Across the Divide – A Journey of Separation and Reunion
Rs600
Two families, broken by the partition, vow to reconstruct their lives by making the most of the opportunities that come their way. Seven decades later, they meet across the seven seas and reclaim their past glory.
Across the Divide… takes you from the ravages of the partition through joys, sorrows, deceptions, bereavement, and obstacles to hilarious college pranks, unique wedding ceremonies that span diverse cultures and religions, to success of an uneducated architect who partners with a man of resolve. You’ll read about the single minded purposefulness of a father to educate his children. About the determination of a daughter to support her family.
All of this culminates in a glorious reunion that crosses many borders, strengthens broken bonds and leads to glory anew.
Vijay H Vazirani –
A very interesting book on the travails of people affected by the partition of bharat by the British & devised by muslim & hindu leaders who wished to be the heads of the respective countries to the detriment of akhand bharat.
The book reveals the traditions of various communities eg hindus, Sikhs, Muslims & Christians & the similarities & differences in marriage functions. The phases of life for people as per the vedas is explained through the characters involved.
I definitely recommend this inspirational read by ms prerna esp if ones ancestors were involved/affected by the partition of India.
