Fill Your Cup with The Right Things

I was standing there at the airport with a bag of doughnuts and a cup of coffee in one hand, and clutching my hand luggage in the other. Before I could find a seat, this guy bumped right into me. Instinctively, I turned around and yelled, “Hey! Are you blind or what?” Then I saw that he was juggling more stuff than I was and he too was looking for a seat to rest and sip coffee – or tea or whatever was in his cup.

As I sat down on a bench, I thought, “Thank God I only had black coffee without sugar. What if I had juice in my cup? How sticky and messy would that be?”

We spill only what we have.

Life is much the same. We fill our cups (minds and hearts) with a lot of stuff. When adversity comes and shakes us up, we spill out whatever we have.

Think about it. What do you want to have in your cup when you are in this situation? What do you want others to have in theirs when you bump into them?

Do you want anger, hatred, envy, greed, bitterness? Or do you want gratitude, joy, and peace?

It’s your cup. You decide. I for one want to go with the second option – every positive emotion there is.

Let me know in the comments what you think. And do take a look at the first and only book I’ve authored so far. There are more in the pipeline too. So, leave your email if you want to know about these in advance and get an early bird discount.
